Where We Are

I've been getting some questions lately.  Questions along the lines of
where have you been?
you seem tired
what are you doing while you wait?

So I thought I'd share a little more into our personal life as we wait to pick up our daughter.  Maybe it will help those of you considering adoption to see the nitty-gritty behind-the-scenes stuff that goes into this stage.  And maybe it will help our friends understand that we are simply MIA because we are busy.  :).

Where have we been?  We have been yard sale fundraising (big success!), VBSing, homeschool prepping, mowing the super speedy grass brought about by all of this rain, organizing the house, writing and rewriting lists, spending quality time with our littles, and trying to keep our heads above water.

We are tired.  Well, I guess I can't really speak for Craig here.  But I am tired.  It's been a busy few weeks.  And I'll be honest - that's good for me.  I'd much rather be busy than lazy.  So busy it is.  But more than that I'm emotionally tired.  You've heard me say it before and I'll say it again: the adoption process is SO emotionally draining. My brain does not turn off at night right now, so I'm not sleeping well.  Another good thing because it will make that time adjustment easier on me.  Until then I will just drag a little bit throughout the day.  :) We are also going through some non-adoption related stuff that adds to the emotional exhaustion.  I definitely seems to be that seasons come in waves.  If one thing happens, more will follow.  I sure do hope that means when this busy emotional season is over we will have a nice little period of rest.

So what are we doing to pass time over the next month while we wait?  I'll give you my latest list of things that I'd like done before we leave.  They won't all get done.  But I'm working hard to get as much checked off as possible.
- complete Alex's potty training
- catch up on laundry
- order a few more SN items for Maia
- finish Maia's shopping
- deep clean the house
- get a bare bones homeschool plan in place
- finish owl orders
- Nathan's birthday party
- pack Maia's bag
- pack our bags
- pack the kids bags

And there you have it.  I'm so grateful to be busy and not sitting around waiting impatiently.  I'm also extremely glad that this process is almost over and we will have our girl home soon.  <3

I'm also extremely grateful to have all of our financial needs covered!  Praise God for His provision and protection over our family this past year.
