Thoughts

There has been a lot going on in my life over the last few weeks.  Things involving our parenting, our faith, and our future adoption.  While we don't yet feel comfortable sharing any more details regarding our future adoption, I want to share with you some thoughts and promises I've been clinging to.  Yes, I am intentionally being vague right now regarding our adoption process.  God is moving, and we are listening.  But the world out there is not always kind or understanding, and until we have a clear picture of where God wants us we will be laying low.   Rest assured that if anything important happens, we will definitely keep you updated.

I did want to share some thoughts and promises I've had while struggling to find where God wants me in life. I hope they're encouraging and challenging to you.

* Our pastor, Shawn Wood, has been preaching a series of sermons on being "weird".  These sermons are changing my life.  Go listen to them for yourself.  I promise they're worth your time.  In a nutshell, as Christians, we are called to be set apart.  "Weird" in the eyes of this world.  Crazy, even.  Hence the name of our new blog.  We've already been told we're "crazy" for adopting when we already have two young kids.  But "crazy" is what we're called to.  And this is only the beginning!  Anyway.  Watch the sermons.  Pastor Shawn says it was better than I could ever summarize.  http://freedomchurch.sc/#/sermons

*I'm limiting God when I make decisions and actions based on my selfishness.  He is more than able to provide me with everything I need to glorify Him.  Sometimes that means doing things that scare me or push me out of my comfort zone.  But think how much glory that gives Him when I do things I KNOW I couldn't do without Him!

*  "If Jesus is who He says He is, and if His promises are as rewarding as the Bible claims they are, then we  may discover that satisfaction in our lives and success in the church are nout found in what our culture thinks is most important, but in radical abandonment to Jesus" - David Platt, Radical

* And the promise I will continually cling to: "Father to the fatherless, defender of widows - this is God, whose dwelling is hold.  God places the lonely in families." - Psalm 68:5-6

  1. Amy I love getting to follow where the Lord is taking your family. I agree with you, the crazy and weird is where He wants to take us because it requires our dependence on Him to lead us out of our comfortable, predictable lives! Keep it up! Love you, Rachel
